St. John Youth and Families,
Welcome back for the 2020 Church Education Year! This year has been unlike any and taken us all in different paths and directions than we have planned. Sunday School and Confirmation are not exempt from that change unfortunately. Change, though, can be exciting and a wonderful learning opportunity! We invite all youth and parents to join us as we try new things to continue to learn about Faith, the Bible, and God’s Amazing Grace!

Where do we begin?
This Sunday, October 18th and the following Sunday, October 25th any Bibles currently at church along with Bibles for our new students, 2nd graders, and 6th graders will be available in the Narthex for contact free pick up.
- In lieu of a Bible presentation, we encourage you to take a picture of you passing the Bible to your child and sharing with others. You are welcome to share on the St. John Facebook page as well!

Sunday School:
- Materials for the remaining Sundays in October as well as November and December will be available for pick up in the Narthex. Each group of materials will be labeled with your child’s name.
- The stories and lessons will be based on the same text for both the younger and older Sunday School students.
- Remembering the promise made in baptism to share God’s word with your child, we encourage you to take a few minutes each week to go through these lessons, share in God’s word as you read from the Spark Bibles, and complete the activities on each leaflet.
- I also encourage you to celebrate God’s Amazing Grace through song! Sing any songs you enjoy as a family or listen to some of your favorites. If you have older children, they may be able to lead in some familiar songs from opening too. Some Sunday School favorites include:
o “Jesus Loves Me”
o “Father Abraham”
o “Noah Built a Great Big Ark”

Confirmation:
- Confirmation this year will be online through Canvas, with materials created by the ELCA.
- Wednesday, October 21st please join Pastor Jon, Ashley Hare, Ardana Bruns, and I in an orientation via Zoom from 6:30-7:00pm. Prior to the 21st an email will be sent to you with information on how to join the Zoom meeting either through your computer, an app on a phone or tablet, or with a phone number on your phone. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.
- Lessons will be posted weekly in Canvas. Information on how to get access will be shared during orientation and via email.
- Weekly Zoom meetings on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:00pm will allow us to connect, share, and ask questions.
- Service Hours: We have an exciting opportunity this year for service hours that keeps everyone safe and healthy. Stay tuned for more information!
