Important events occur throughout our lives, and St. John has the privelege of being part of some of these.  If you are interested in any of these events with St. John, please contact the church to speak with a pastor.

Holy Baptism

God, who is rich in mercy and love, gives us a new birth into a living hope through the sacrament of baptism.  By water and the Word, God delivers us from sin and death and raises us to new life in Jesus Christ.  We are united with all the baptized in the one body of Christ, anointed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, and joined in God’s mission for the life of the world.

Marriage

At the heart of the rite of marriage is the promise of love and faithfulness by which two people bind themselves to one another in a lifelong commitment.  The church celebrates and accompanies the couple through this life passage by witnessing their promises, proclaiming the word of God in connection with this transition, and praying for God’s blessing on the couple and their household.

Funerals

At a person’s death, the church shares the grief of those who mourn and remembers the brevity of life on earth. At the funeral we give voice to sorrow, thank God for our loved one, and entrust this companion of ours into the hands of God. Trusting in God’s promise in baptism that we are claimed by Christ forever, we rest in the sure hope of the resurrection. When the church gathers to mark the end of life, Christ crucified and risen is the witness of worship, the strength of mutual consolation, and the hope of healing.
