St. John members will be voting on calling new Pastoral Leadership on January 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

The congregation will be voting to call Pastor Karl Breddin as the full-time senior pastor and Pastor Rebecca Breddin as a 60%-time pastor.

If you weren’t able to meet the Breddin’s at the Meet and Greet, you can meet them online and listen to them preach. You can find them online at United Lutheran Langdon, ND for Pastor Karl and at Walhalla Lutheran at Walhalla, ND for Pastor Rebecca. Go to the Facebook page for each church, and you will find online worship services where you can see and hear them preach.

The process of voting will be an in-person vote. We can accommodate 70 people inside the church in the Sanctuary and the Olinger Center, with social distancing. Masks will also be required.

When we have reached capacity in the church, we will ask people to worship from their cars (we will make sure the FM transmitter is working). It is communion Sunday, and we will make sure people in cars receive communion. We also want those who are uncomfortable inside to please worship in your car. If you aren’t planning on attending worship, we still encourage you to come at 11:00 for the congregational meeting.

We have sound between the Sanctuary and the Olinger Center so anyone in the church can ask questions prior to the vote. Those in cars can write down their questions. We will have ushers available to collect your questions, or we will have a microphone available in the foyer where you can ask your questions.

The vote will be a paper ballot which will be a simple yes or no ballot. We will hand out the ballots at the beginning of the meeting and collect them after everyone has voted. The ushers will wear protective gloves when they hand out ballots to provide as safe an environment as possible.

St. John’s constitution quorum requirement is that at least 50 members must be present in order to open the meeting. The Constitution also requires a two-thirds majority of those voting to extend a call to a new pastor(s).

This is a very important vote, so you are encouraged to attend.

We look forward to seeing you Sunday, the 17th.
